Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to clear an entrance exam for admission?

For B.Pharm, admissions are conducted through state-level counseling based on valid rank holders in OJEE, JEE Main, or NEET. For D.Pharm, selection is generally done through merit based on your 10+2 science marks, following the guidelines set by the selection committee.

Are the pharmacy programs at KRIMS recognized and valid for government jobs?

Yes. Both the B.Pharm and D.Pharm programs are fully approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). They are affiliated with the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) and the Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS). This means your certificate is completely valid for government jobs, private sector roles, and retail pharmacy licenses across India.

Who will be teaching us at the institute?

Our teaching staff consists of seasoned academicians, registered pharmacists, and experienced medical professionals. Many of them have spent decades working inside actual clinics, hospitals, and pharmaceutical production environments, bringing real-world case studies into daily lectures.

I had PCMB (or PCMC) in 12th. Is pharmacy easier for Biology students or Math students?

The course accommodates both backgrounds perfectly. Biology students usually find the first-year human anatomy modules easier to grasp. Math students often have an advantage in calculations, physics-based pharmaceutics, and analytical chemistry. To bridge this gap right at the start, our faculty at KRIMS provides dedicated remedial classes in the first semester (Remedial Biology for math backgrounds and Remedial Mathematics for biology backgrounds) to bring everyone to the same comfortable level.

Can I get a drug manufacturing or retail pharmacy license immediately after finishing my course?

Yes, but the process has a couple of mandatory professional steps. After finishing your final exams, you must register with the State Pharmacy Council. For the D.Pharm track, you must complete 500 hours of practical hospital training (spread over at least 3 months) before you can apply for your official license. For B.Pharm, you can apply for registration right after graduation. Once your Registered Pharmacist certificate arrives, you are legally clear to open a retail medical store or work as a certified professional in a manufacturing unit.

Is it mandatory to clear the Pharmacy Exit Exam to get a license to practice?

Yes, as per the current regulations set by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) students are required to clear the Diploma in Pharmacy Exit Examination (DPEE) to officially register as a pharmacist. At KRIMS, our faculty incorporates regular objective-type questions and foundational testing into our daily academic calendar so you feel naturally prepared for this exam by the time you graduate.

What are the actual job profiles for a pharmacy graduate besides working at a medical store?

A pharmacy qualification opens up major industrial and corporate avenues. Depending on whether you choose our degree or diploma track, career paths include: Quality Assurance (QA) & Quality Control (QC): Testing raw materials and ensuring drug safety in manufacturing plants.Production & Formulation: Overseeing the industrial scaling of tablets, capsules, and liquids. Clinical Research & Pharmacovigilance: Monitoring drug side effects for global healthcare IT and pharma firms.Hospital Pharmacist: Managing institutional dispensaries and compounding in healthcare facilities.

Can a D.Pharm student skip the first year of B.Pharm later?

Yes, this is an excellent pathway known as Lateral Entry. If you complete your 2-year D.Pharm program with good academic standings, you can apply for state-level lateral entry counseling (like OJEE). If selected, you get direct admission right into the second year (3rd semester) of our B.Pharm degree program, saving you a full year of study.

Do pharmaceutical companies actually recruit from Bhubaneswar, or do we have to travel to major pharma hubs?

While major manufacturing hubs are traditionally located in states like Gujarat or Himachal Pradesh, top-tier corporate employers recruit nationwide. Our active placement cell at KRIMS brings major retail pharmacy chains (like Apollo Pharmacy and MedPlus), healthcare IT corporations, and medical coding firms directly to Bhubaneswar for campus recruitment drives. For specific manufacturing plant roles, our placement team coordinates directly with industrial units to arrange pool interviews and referrals.

What is the scope of higher education after completing a B.Pharm degree?

Graduating with your B.Pharm unlocks several advanced technical and managerial paths: M.Pharm (Master of Pharmacy): Specializing in core domains like Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, or Chemistry. Pharm.D (Post-Baccalaureate): A 3-year clinical doctorate focusing purely on hospital ward rounds and patient medication charts. MBA in Pharma Management: Combining your technical base with management skills for corporate roles in pharmaceutical marketing, supply chains, and healthcare branding.

Is there a hostel facility available on the campus?

Yes, we offer separate, fully furnished hostels for both boys and girls. The girls' hostel is located directly inside the campus, while the boys' hostel is in the immediate vicinity. The facilities include basic modern amenities, 24/7 security, and immediate medical assistance on call if a student falls ill.

What are the eligibility Criteria for B.Pharm at KRIMS?

To be eligible for the B.Pharm programme at KRIMS, candidates must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics as core subjects from a recognised board. Minimum aggregate marks requirements as per OPBE/OJEE norms apply. For lateral entry (B.Pharm LE), a D.Pharm degree is required.

What Facilities are available at KRIMS campus?

KRIMS offers a modern, fully equipped campus with: smart classrooms with ICT tools and Wi-Fi, a well-stocked library and e-library, advanced laboratories, a language lab, gymnasium, yoga centre, sports and fitness facilities, an air-conditioned conference hall, a canteen, and 24×7 security. The campus also has a bank and ATM on-site.

Are Scholarships available at KRIMS for Pharmacy Students?
